OUR CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. The VEYLDF identifies eight Practice Principles for Learning and Development, which describe the most effective ways for early childhood professionals to work together and with children and families to facilitate learning and development.
PRINCIPLE 1
Reflective Practice

Our educators continuously reflect on and critically evaluate their practice. Through the use of the Early Years Planning Cycle, we maintain a learning culture in our service that is linked with our commitment to continuous improvement.
PRINCIPLE 2
Partnerships with Families

We believe families are the primary influence on children’s learning and development. We strive to create a welcoming inclusive environment, and actively engage with families to create responsive partnerships that support learning and development.
PRINCIPLE 3
High Expectations for every child

We recognise children are capable of making choices and decisions from birth. Through an emerging curriculum our educators encourage children to develop a sense of agency through encouragement and the development of independent thinking.
PRINCIPLE 4
Respectful Relationships and Responsive Engagement

Our educators recognise each individual child and family and develop caring and reciprocal relationships through authentic interactions.
We respect and welcome all unique cultures and their values and beliefs.

PRINCIPLE 5
Equity and Diversity

We acknowledge and respect diversity and actively provide equitable learning opportunities for all children. Our programs recognise and nurture each child’s sense of belonging to their family, our service and the community.

PRINCIPLE 6
Assessment for Learning and Development

Assessment of children’s knowledge, understandings, skills and capabilities is undertaken both formally and informally. Educators use their understanding of children's knowledge and capabilities to plan for new learning opportunities.
PRINCIPLE 7
Integrated teaching and learning approaches

With play at the forefront our educators combine child-directed play and learning, guided play and learning, and adult-led learning to advance children’s knowledge. We follow the children's interests to provide a broad variety of evolving learning experiences.
PRINCIPLE 8
Partnerships with Professionals

Our educators welcome and seek out collaborative partnerships with families, health professionals, support services and schools.
We acknowledge the benefits of shared knowledge and skills and when working towards the common goals of a childs best interest.
